Stockholm was founded in the 1200s by Birger Jarl. Back in those days stockholm was situated on an island that is nowadays called "Old Town". Famous tourist attractions and sites in old town are Storkyrkan ("Bigchurch"), the Royal Castle and the famous walking/shopping street "Västra Långgatan".
Many of the streets are very narrow and prettily made of "cobblestone" bricks, which makes it impossible for cars to get anywhere. The apartment prices here are among Stockholm and Sweden's highest.
